I love that official response from Tesco's.

Its logical, witty and definitely in the right spirit of things.

Plus they are right only the Emperor was hooded all the time.

Reading the story I had the feeling they were just going to give a response effectively calling the guy a nerd. This was a pleasant surprise to say the least.

Do Tesco have this policy with Muslim women wearing veils or burkas?

    Some how I doubt it.

Well, it wouldn't surprise me if they did also apply the rule to Muslims

I think it is just because 99.99% of the time it will be chav's who will steal from the store or generally abuse staff and customers who go around with hoodies on.

Having this rule allows them to ban these people pre-emptively from the store.

Unfortunately for this guy he was the 0.01%

Are there any Jedi's here on the forums? Because apparently there are 500,000 members of this "church"!

in the original article i read last week he actually complained that 3 feet from him at the time a Muslim woman in a burka entered the store more covered than him. Her religious right was maintained but he was bullied out of the store.

As an ex-Tesco employee i find this completely distasteful and rude. This his religion is a joke or not, he has the same rights as anybody else and to be bullied essentially because he's a man (males with hoods are automatically assumed to be hoodied chavs, women with headscarves can be Muslim or not, headscarves are not frowned upon) is just ridiculous.

The worst thing about this, is that because most people view his religion as a joke, this wont get the same level of backlash or outcry that it would if a Muslim or a Christian etc was kicked out of Tesco for their religious beliefs.

I do have to say - you can't really take it THAT seriously when you consider that really the whole Jedi thing was nothing more than a George Lucas brain fart!

Actually not quite, there's 500,000 people who took the last census less than seriously and got on board with a popular campaign at the time to force Jedi to appear on the 2011 census as an option.

Unfortunately my write in option of "All religions are a lie" didn't make the grade

Spelling error in the article "Jedis"

The plural of Jedi is Jedi.

    have some respect please Scott.

May the Force be with you.
