It's weird that the cheapest place for the 5xxx series is a store that is usually one of the more expensive places.

Wish they'd hurry up with my 5850 mind, they keep putting back the 'expected' date. Guessing 5850's will be like gold dust considering the bang:buck they offer

The 5870's are overpriced abit IMO.
I'm waiting until the 5850's go down to £150 before I buy one. That gives me plenty time to see what Nvidia's GPU will be capable of aswell.

Agreed, against the RRP. I guess they're focussed on matching the local in-stock competition whilst benefiting from the early stock shortages.

Definitely! A 5850 for 150 quid would be awesome, I guess we will have to wait till after the GT300 range has been released though?

No surprise there. The 5850/5870 currently have no real competition so the price won't drop.

Next drop will probably be October 22nd or before when the other 5xxx cards are released.

5850 is the next logical upgrade from my 4770 (energy efficiency FTW) but right now I can see my 4770 + a core i5 lasting for a while longer before I upgrade, maybe next year.

I wish nVidia would hurry up and get their rival board out so I can finally pick whether to replace my 8800GTS with a 58X0 or a GT3X0. Still, gives me time to save up the pennies.

Pick up a cheap 4850 or 4770. Cos you will be waiting till next year before nv have their cards out.

Due to house moving my buying of new toys is curtailed. So either cheap Pheonom2 with DDR3 and a 5850 or a i5 next year is my current thinking.
