One connector - I wish - I really do. But after USB with its mini, micro, A, B and several vendor specific connectors i'm not sure if I believe it.
Awesome news IMO.
An optical connection standard, the possibilities for standardisation are amazing
USB3 just lost a large part of it's appeal for me!

ISTR usb was originally meant to be one connector, with each item having a "passthrough" so they daisy chained along..
Very rarely saw that used though - manufacturers didn't bother with it.
Hopefully they can replace SATA too. I hate those connectors. They come lose and are weak.
Hmm. 1 Connector for every type of peripheral to attach to your computer. Sounds good to me. I wonder if they could come up with a spec that allows enough power to drive a monitor from your PC as well?
Think about the simplified cabling:
1 cable from the wall to the Computer. Possibly 2 because of networking. 1 cable from computer to monitor. 1 cable from monitor to keyboard. 1 Cable from keyboard to mouse.
It'll mike cabling a lot better IMHO.

You won't get power over OPTICAL cable ... and that kills part of the usb replacement idea.
