Re: News - Apple's new Mac ads attack Windows 7

So, apple do a easy file transfer wizard? Great!

Oh, no they don't. Thus invalidating the entire drive of these ads - migrating to a mac *is* harder, even ignoring the inherent learning curve of switching.

Hey Apple! Any chance you could er.. I dunno, SHOW us OSX and SELL US ON FEATURES? Simply pointing at windows and saying "it's based on the other one" isn't good enough, especially when that's what you do (far more frequently).

Is it me, or are these ads having a detrimental effect for Apple now? I don't know anyone (Apple user or not) who thinks they're funny or factual any more.

Re: News - Apple's new Mac ads attack Windows 7

Personally, as much as I hate the ads, I doubt they are detrimental to apple.

Most Mac users will tell you their Mac is far superior to a windows machine without even realising that the hardware inside only differs from a Wintel due to it's use of EFI (which Wintel supports, just nobody uses).

The ads just cement their current customer base, while reminding those same people to carry on wearing down the non-tec-savvy PC users into switching.....in fact, with the whole ad revolving around Windows 7, it probably creates a subliminal effect where by the rabit mac user will start their hard sell at the meer mention of Windows 7.

Why is it that they cannot just advertise their own features and let the consumer decide without having to diss the competition....cheap shots all you've got left these days Apple PR???

lol at how Apple's only advertisements are making false accusations against windows and not talking about the pluses of getting a Mac.

People forget the huge advantage apple has over microsoft.

They design both the hardware and software, which is much easier. Windows is a coverall, mac is just mac.

    Both have their place.

And yet, they still somehow manage to cause user data to evaporate into thin air. And laptops burst into flames.

'designing' both hardware and software doesn't mean it'll just work perfectly.

Re: News - Apple's new Mac ads attack Windows 7

Do apple really design their own hardware? No. They just put together a specific system and thus design the OS around that (am i right?) so they should be able to run very effciently, much like an xbox 360 can run games quite well when compared to a crappy port to pc!.

Come on apple, stop giving me reasons to hate you even more!. Its not a great customer service, everyone i know has had Ipods break on them and alot have had Macs break also and have been left weeks without them!. You pay more than needed to be locked to specific hardware, only good part is the "simple" design which IMO is naff and boring/annoying.

edit: Also, cant Microsoft claim against damages? Cause majority of all these mac adverts are full of lies which is, false advertising again . Apple need to learn to play fair, atleast MS make an effort to promote their system and not destroy yours!.

Re: News - Apple's new Mac ads attack Windows 7

I saw this commercial last night whilst watching Grey's Anatomy. It's so sad, it's like that annoying kid that keeps trying to take cheap shots at you and wont shut up. But like the kid, you just ignore it.

THEN, I saw a Windows 7 commercial, that was actually really great advertising it's features and what I guess is their new slogan, "My name is "John Doe", and Windows 7 was my idea!" I was like, that's actually really good. GG MS.

Re: News - Apple's new Mac ads attack Windows 7

[insert one of my usual distain towards apple adverts here]

Isnt the actual hardware in macs made in the same factory that a lot of acer/asus etc hardware comes from?

The only thing which apple do is put it in a unibody shell (which i think is actually pretty awesome).

I have had a macbook pro for over 2 years now and overall its been pretty good but6 i have had a few niggles. The DVD drives in them are shocking, im on my second one and i reckon thats on its way out too. I have had my clamshell (top of the laptop with the screen) replaced and I have just had the trackpad, keyboard and its surround replaces (mine is pre unibody). Thank god i got the 3 years free applecare as a student!

That's what happens when you get marketing bods to assemble substandard components, and do a substandard job soldering them all together.
