No PS4 and Xbox 720? Maybe not, if Yoichi Wada's predictions are right.

Consoles dying? I though it was PC gaming that was being replaced by console gaming?

We can dream.

Damn when I read this I was really happy, I love to see consoles die, then we can get some decent PC games for once.

To rehash an old quote - 'You can have my gaming PC when you take it out of my cold dead hands"...
PC Gamer for ever!

I don't think this will really replace anything for a while yet, and I still have a feeling that the next renditions of the Playstation and Xbox will still be the traditional definition of a console. Maybe the generation after that the internet would have really matured into a state though where it can happen... too many people still have dodgy internet connections that cut out, slow down and generally are too unreliable to make this a reality within the consumer market!

Consoles won't 'die'.
Can't really see a kid 10 years from now in PC World asking for the latest 3DFX card to play the new Mario cart...

You'll never need more than 640K.
Also, Square can kiss my pasty white Irish ass if they think I'm going to leisure with the meter ticking. And no, I don't care for social retard features and Mass of Morons Online.

Gaming consoles are a hell of a lot cheaper when you think about all of the money you save from upgrading your Graphics Card or RAM every three months.:surprised:
And that's just to play the latest games, not to mention the install times and lack of HD space. Any more with a 350 GB hard drive, you'd be lucky to fit ten games on your computer before running out of space.
CONSOLES FOR THE WIN!!!!:rockon2:

This is the biggest myth ever. As a PC and console gamer I worked out in the first year of owning the 360 I would of spent just under £1800 on hardware and games if I had bought them on release or within a few weeks of games being new on the shelves. My PC cost me £800 and I spent around £200 on games in teh two years I've owned it. The initial outlay on hardware will be cheaper for consoles then when you are paying £30 - £40 a time for a console game it soon adds up.
Luckily I had around £200 in game vouchers which was the only reason I bought the console versions. In the long run its the console that costs more from my experience.
Re: News - Death of home consoles predicted by Final Fantasy developer
Thing is, if you're a console gamer it's so easy to convince yourself otherwise.
Typical process I've seen is for people to go onto Alienware, spec out a PC with a 5970 and an i7 and then conclude that it's very expensive - and then, like this guy, suggest that you will need to upgrade it - £200 at a time - every three months for it to work properly. When in reality to run a game like CoD:MW2 you really don't need a PC of any appreciable specs.
I would imagine that for most people, graphics card and CPU updates are on more of an 18-24 month cycle, obviously dependent on how much you spend in the first place... and selling off the old cards gets you a fair bit of cash back again as well. Not to mention that everybody who owns a console is going to have to buy a PC anyway.
