It has been confirmed by The Official Charts Company that Amazon sales DO count.

It was confirmed on the FB page last night. Can't link from work unfortunately.

I had heard of RATM but never really heard any of their music, so I'm glad I popped onto Amazon to pay all of 29p to hear a brilliant song which was on repeat for hours last nite.
Only 17 years late but better late than never.
Anything to annoy the wet fish that won the xFactor and wipe the grin off Simons face.
Also im bored of all the lar di da style music that is out every xmas, lets give a real band a chance.
Looking at the official charts website, RAGE is at 80.

Here's an Amazon discussion RE: do they count towards the official charts
http://www.amazon.co.uk/tag/mp3/foru...x1V43X5O8FDTWD
Amazon.co.uk Music Team says:
We can confirm that sales of MP3s from Amazon.co.uk, including "The Climb" by Joe McElderry and "Killing in the Name" by Rage Against The Machine, count towards the Official UK Charts.

Edit by Stoo - Amazon buys the tracks from Sony at 40p or more, they then sell at 29p as a loss leader.Originally Posted by Rules PDF

I always thought there was another rule about it having to be available on at least two formats but I can't find official confirmation of that.
Quote from amazon site
Just to back up what's been said about the 29p downloads counting towards the chart. They DO count, I e-mailed the official chart company to ask and they confirmed that 29p downloads off Amazon count towards the chart. The minimum price of 40p is the DEALER price what Amazon pay, if they decide to sell cheaper as a special offer then it's up to them but it doesn't effect the downloads being counted towards the chart.
Once again, 29p downloads DO count towards the chart![]()
