I wonder if they will even call it a PS4 as from memory I am sure the number 4 is supposed to be unlucky in Japan.

Re: News - PS4 to feature Multi-Core design?

I'm fairly sure that as soon as the PS3 was out of the door the initial planning for the PS4 will have been started.

People appear to believe that the 10 year lifespan message means nothing will be released for 10 years, but that has never happened. Yes, it's almost certain that a PS-Next will arrive well before 10 years is up, but that doesn't mean that the PS3 lifespan is over, it just means that it won't be the lead development platform.

Just as happened with the PS2 when the PS3 launched, and the PSX/PSOne when the PS2 launched.

I expect we'll see the next Playstation arrive somewhere at the end of 2011 (I don't think they'll want the next xbox to steal as big a lead as it had this time around), I don't think it'll be called the PS4 either, but possibly something like PSFour, or another word. (4 is considered an unlucky number because it can be pronounced "shi" which is the word for death, but it might be okay as "four" if it's specifically meant as an English word..). PSIV? I dunno.

As long as it's not something overly fluffy (Reality Synthesizer, emotion engine, etc..) Playstation Omega anyone?

Referring to the original 'Playstation' as the 'PSX' could be confusing due to the PSX being a PVR that includes a PS2/PS1 but was never released outside of Japan due to it's price point and consequently not selling many units. http://www.psx.sony.co.jp/

Which is a pity as it would have been quite good

Yeah, but the Playstation was originally referred to as the PSX for a lot longer than the PS2 based uhh, PSX..

Re: News - PS4 to feature Multi-Core design?

I hope they don't make it too architecturally different, what crippled the PS3 for me was lack of PS2 back-compat - although i still intend to buy one when they drop below £180-200 for the slim

Hopefully in 6 years time they'll still be letting us play PS3 games on new consoles. It's not like games are getting any cheaper either so it'd be good not to have to buy too many more!

I heard it will have Octo-SLI.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: News - PS4 to feature Multi-Core design?

wonder what the price tag will be when this one is first released? another £500 maybe? with no games worth playing at release? they really need to release a new PS with something that shows what the console can do!
