640k should be enough for anyone.
I filled more than 128gb last time I went on holiday with only a k20d.
Someone with a full frame, who is doing any HDR or fast moving stuff will fill this easily.
That said with current cameras they might have to change their battery once or twice :D
Re: News - Silicon Power lets loose world's first 400x 128GB CF card
I know some people who'd happily fill that over the course of an evening out.
As you might have guessed, I'm not one of them.
Re: News - Silicon Power lets loose world's first 400x 128GB CF card
I know it's aimed at the photography market, but I can't help thinking about pairing it with something like this for a teeny-tiny nettop ;)
Re: News - Silicon Power lets loose world's first 400x 128GB CF card
With an A900 you would be looking at over 2000 pictures in RAW+jpeg mode with a 128GB card.
TBH,unless I had a camera with dual card slots I would not want to have all my pictures on one card unless I had a notebook to hand for periodic backups.
I suppose for covering an event even with a 35MM full frame digital camera it would be useful to have such capacity.
I see this card being more useful for medium format digital cameras TBH.
Re: News - Silicon Power lets loose world's first 400x 128GB CF card
I wonder if a 1D-III would work properly long enough to fill one though! ;)
Re: News - Silicon Power lets loose world's first 400x 128GB CF card
Meh to that, Sandisk ones have better specs.. though not the capacity.
Sandisk:
TEMPERATURE: Tested to perform from -25°C to 85°C (-13°F to 185°F)
Chase Jarvis was shooting with the Sandisk ones in New Zealand in the snow :)
These cards cost as much as a mid range dslr anyway. The only people who will get them are the pros and they'll be going for Sandisk.

Sorry for changing the subject - do 1D-IIIs have reliability issues or something?
Re: News - Silicon Power lets loose world's first 400x 128GB CF card

I know of at least four people whose 1D-IIIs have been back to Canon UK twice. One of those has been back three times. All for the same issue - unreliable AF.
Re: News - Silicon Power lets loose world's first 400x 128GB CF card
I wasn't aware of that, thanks.
Re: News - Silicon Power lets loose world's first 400x 128GB CF card
Firstly, apologies for going off-topic!
I should perhaps clarify the iffy examples I know of were sports shooters' cameras from early batches - I've also personally used one of these faulty 1D-IIIs in perfect conditions and found it did indeed have issues. A 20D and 40D (both mine) proved more than up to the task in the same conditions with the same lens. I'm told (by the guy whose 1D-III has been back three times) it looks like they've finally got it just about working... it's come close once or twice but I don't think I'd ever want to own one now.
I know this is going off on an tangent (and goes back quite a while which is perhaps unfair to the latest build cameras) but have a shufty at this http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/mul...id=7-8740-9068
On another, though related, tangent after some considerable period of time as a Canon shooter, Andy Rouse (the wildlife guy) is now a Nikon shooter...

Forums would be no fun if you couldn't go off-topic ;)
Any idea if these issues have been rectified in new models, just out of interest?
Re: News - Silicon Power lets loose world's first 400x 128GB CF card
Don't know with any certainty but my mate who has had one of the 'iffy' cameras (the one that's been back three times) seems quite happy with it now - I can only assume whatever they did is also part of the later cameras.
When it works, it's a fantastic camera - I'd love one myself but my mate's experience has put me off the idea.
