There's more technical complexities to being able to put local prices in. You have to do that for every product in every country and you then have to deal with currency fluctuations.
is that not a bit like saying "we can't be arsed"? I despise the points scheme.
I've always wondered if a 'platinum' xbox live license couldn't be bought, to allow 'unlimited' purchase of extra game content? Not sure how it'd be implemented, but it's a good idea :P

The first person to tell us how much 150 Microsoft points is worth can give themselves a big pat on the back, we haven’t got a clue.
why? quick amazon looks shows its £17 for 2100/150=14, so £17/14= about £1.20 150ms points are worth £1.20 at "amazons current exchange rate"

have you patted your back yet? :D
Re: News - An end to Microsoft Points?
well since the price of ms points is not fixed it makes no difference if we know the "actual worth" of dlc and the like.
the only thing paying real money directly for stuff is going to do is put an end to super cheap bulk buys of point and it will end up costing us more. Everybody shut up its fine as it is

Re: News - An end to Microsoft Points?
It's not like you lose out if you have to spend a bit more to get the amount of points you want because the remainder is still allocated to you account for you to spend at a later date. The left over points are going to be worth more to you than the redundant change left in your bank account.

i'd rather have £1.20 in my bank account than 150 points on my XBL account.

so.. £1.20 definitely is better then?
unless of course, they accept that widely known currency of MS points.. oh wait.
Re: News - An end to Microsoft Points?
i guess for people that only have £1.20 and really need a battery tester....

He's right though, a points system doesn't really hurt us as consumers in my opinion. In fact because I'm able to pick up 2100 point cards for less than a tenner more often than not (if I keep an eye on HDUK) it's probably saved me quite a lot of money. Not to mention the discount you get bulk buying them direct from MS. My only grievance with the system is that they don't show the price in "real money" next to the price in MS points, which would be fairly easy. Even then, I know if something's 800 points it's the equivalent of about £6.99, 1200 points is around £9.99 etc etc. It'd just be nice if the information was always there without me having to think about it.

It wouldn't matter if battery tester selling placed didn't know what MS point were - i already mentioned there linked to my account to spend on LIVE at a later date.

but this is just like vouchers.. they're there to use at a later date, but cash is always better. cos there's so many more places you can spend cash than you can a voucher.

The only other competitor to XBL is the PSN where prices are basically the same, Im not about to fap or grumble at a few penny differences to what I would be getting with real moneyz. Not to mention theres plenty of stuff you can splash your points on.
I don't really see what the problem is.
