Certainly seems nippy but I wouldn't be able to say if that's because it actually is or if it's a placebo type effect. More importantly, though, I've just got a Pulp Fiction persona

EDIT: Might just be me, or has the BBC iPlayer layout gone a bit haywire? Don't know if it's just affecting me and whether or not it's a result of FF3.6 ...

Re: News - Mozilla launches Firefox 3.6

I'm still trundling away on FF3.0 on this, my main rig. It's the Long Term Support version of Ubuntu and so I don't like installing new stuff if there's nothing wrong with the old

Still, I'll probably pop it on my other boxen, particularly my netbook, to see how it fares. I wonder how long it'll take for the packagers to sort a PPA out for this?

Ubuntuzilla to the rescue! Allows you to install newer version on older ubuntus.

So security updates mean nothing to you? Might be using Linux but most attacks are done through web browsers these days.

No real speed increase or change to loading times etc. Still working away on Chrome as FF 3.6 is still a long way off being anywhere near as fast as Chrome for now

I have found that 3.6 is using around 5% more resources than 3.5 so am hoping that any speed increase more than makes up for the extra resource hog

I know that this is not the issue that it was in past days but I thought that I would do a comparison anyway

My second choice browser, Opera, only uses half the resources of Firefox and I don't use Chrome so have no measure to compare

Re: News - Mozilla launches Firefox 3.6

3.6 is much smoother at scrolling through ages for me. I got the Flash stuttering on 64-bit systems bug (if that's what it is..) and the upgrade plus using the adobe uninstaller and then re-installing the latest version fixed that, so overall a positive thing. Now waiting for google to update pagespeed add-on and I'll be sorted :-)

Re: News - Mozilla launches Firefox 3.6

Meh really shouldnt have been so quick to install this new version, none of my add-ons or even my theme is compatable...

And even with "personas" it still looks terrible compaired to Camifox. However this is a big, much needed improvement on the default theme. IE8 style taskbar tabs would have been nice though.

Re: News - Mozilla launches Firefox 3.6

Just updated my camifox theme on 3.6 so now all is good. Not really a chrome person it lacks functionality against firefox, I use chrome as default on my MacBook and it is noticeably faster but on my main PC firefox is just the standard.

It isn't refreshing the tab titles properly, apart from that everything's fine.

I don't think Mozilla are releasing updates for 3.0 any more, well I think they released one the other day but that's only because it was very important.
I like 3.6 myself - no massive changes but I like the way if you open a link in a new tab (click scroll wheel) it opens next to the currently active tab instead of at the end of the tab bar which is good if you have lots of tabs open. Also I think it does feel faster but they still haven't fixed the way entries in the cookies exceptions list disappear after restarting FF...

Damn, that's copied off IE. And I hate it in IE. Maybe I'll learn to love it, but I'm assuming otherwise it's somewhere in about:config?
