Well yeah, providing i know HOW to zero the drive - my experiences of HDDErase aren't positive thusfar - and I tried the gparted route too but it's all dumb linuxycommandlineycrap as per usual.
The backup is to/from a Sammy F3 - great drive - and is 15gb of disk space used (compresses down to about 6-7 on 'high').

Thanks for correcting me on my assumption, dangel
It is a boot drive that I'm looking for and, like TheAnimus, I'm awaiting a comparative review around this price point to help me decide

We're all being misled on that count - my own choices (3 SSDs so far) were based on a heck of a lot of reading and ignoring the bullcrap marketing that goes with them. I'd like to see a review of the new OCZ 30gb SSD drive that's out - it could be my weapon of choice in the future now the 40gb kingston is dodo.

IIRC you can use the Intel manual trim tool for it - the one for previous OS's to Win7.
I would definitely take a backup first though.

That's OK for my intel drive - not so much the Kingstons I guess? I have no real idea though!
And yeah backup to say the least - my intel drive got fried by the bios update from them - fortunately i think (think) I've recovered it from death (time will tell) but i've yet to read the SMART data to check/use it substantively.
