Re: News - Google Chrome 4 released, touts Extensions and Bookmark Sync

Been using Beta4 and there are plenty of damn good extensions. For me the most stupid thing about Chrome is that the Chrome Bookmarks are different to your Google Bookmarks even though both are associated with the same Google login.

It started to really get on my tits so I went back to Firefox 3.6

I don't get what the big thing is about Chrome, don't get me wrong, it's a decent browser, but I used the previous version to this, and found Firefox much faster.

Sticking with Firefox for now, probably won't change for a good while.

A decent improvement on top of an already amazing browser.
This quickly became my browser of choice and it's gonna stay that way, I love the simplicity

Been using the 4.x builds for a while now (dev branch) and the extensions and speed are great. I still use IE over Chrome though (70/30 split). I'm a man of habit.

Chrome is faster than FF for me - both on startup and use. Extensions are much quicker to install and overall it's a better experience - FF may be in some trouble on this front.
If google fix the stupid install to programdata i'd be happier of course (FFS obey the bloody rules and stop bypassing security just to promote your browser and worse still forcing every darn NT user to install their own copy of chrome!).

A quick google seems to indicate that installing via google pack will put it in program files instead.

Even crack addiction is a habit. It's not exactly good for you though. Same as IE.

Re: News - Google Chrome 4 released, touts Extensions and Bookmark Sync

Chrome b2 (iirc) was much much quicker than FF 3.0.x for me - the only thing that stopped me migrating was the lack of Adblock+!

I may now be forced to hand all my data over to the evil empire to satiate my speed addiction

How do i get rid of this gimp "pop.mp3" when im on facebook ?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Tried and failed - the googlepack installed an older version of the browser (and has it's own drawbacks as pointed out). I too managed to use google yesterday.

Sadly (even if it did work) it doesn't change the fact that what they're doing is bloody stupid (or just bloody minded i'm not decided) for the main chrome installer.

Mozilla are doing the same with Firefox 3.6 now.

Yes they are being a bit dumb about a few things (this and the bookmarks for example). I love Firefox but Chrome is VERY good and I could see me using it if/when they fix these niggles.
