3x 160gb Intels in Raid 5 wont give more performance, Raid 5, especialy with only 3 drives is a fair bit slower than 2 drives striped.

That depends on a number of things, including whether you are talking about reads or writes.

It's not as clear cut as you make it sound.

I thought that RAID didn't pass through the TRIM command at the moment, even if the drive and OS are both using it.
