16:9 ratio good, 720p capable good, 12" screen bad, in this category. It's nice to see something that could be competitive with the iPad, but I think 12" is overcooking it - too big to handle comfortably (and too heavy, @ 1.1Kg). Also, 5 hours battery life? Forget it. It's another step in the right direction, but a very very small one...
As much as I like the look of this, it's never going to be competitive (imo) with Apple. Firstly the iPad is Apple, it's the same price, it's a more user friendly size, has more functionality and it's Apple. Yes I've said Apple twice, but I'm just trying to emphasize a point. There is always a certain caché that comes with the name.
You mean something like:
A superlative suggestion, sir, with just two minor flaws. One: We don't have any defensive shields, and Two: We don't have any defensive shields. Now, I realise that, technically speaking, that's only one flaw, but I thought that it was such a big one it was worth mentioning twice.
The Apple has more functionality? Are you absolutely sure about that?

Anything that competes with Apple is a winner for me, I think these PADS are a great idea and the more competition we get the better choice and hopefully better pricing.

I'd prefer the JJ if I were in the market for something like this, being realistic this would only be something used to surf the net/play films/music from my couch/bed, assuming the playback (if it even does this?) and codec support is good for the JJ then (for me) it wins hands down. 12" vs 10"? Well, for me the larger (yet still small when you think about it) screen would be preferable.
Battery life isn't a massive problem, it'll never be further than about 5 metres from a socket, I don't see many people using these on their commute to work to watch a film/read a book for many reasons (theft/sheer size/chances of breakage in your bag)
I'm actually getting interested in a JJ now, dammit!

so snootyjim, been able to run silverlight, flash is less good as a poxy locked down store that specialises in software such as the most popular fart button?

Looking into it I agree with this (shame as I'm not a fan of the iPad)
JJ can't play video/audio from a file (I don't care about the apps), only from what is on the net(?) That sounds mad in this day & age, I hope I've got that wrong but i'm sure someone will add it asap after release, otherwise the JJ will flop (IMO)

No user ability to store files, the 4Gb is basically just cache. No mem card slot (yet)...ouch, sounds crippled to me. Like the iPad V2 I imagine Joojoo V2 will pick up on (at least some) things that are lacking in V1. Although from the comments on Giz... Hmmm!BTW Arrington mentioned himself that you were able to hack windows 7 and chrome os onto these babies.

Off-topic:
I just had to say - that made me chuckle. Now did you remember that quote from memory, or did you check it? (sounds word perfect to my addled memory...)
Anyway, on topic, if this is priced the same as the Apple, even I would probably lump for the Apple. I generally dislike the Apple approach of locking things down, but the flip side is that I would expect a smoother and more plug and play experience. (even if you can't actually plug anything in to the ipad easily...)
Plus Apple have been updating firmware etc... on the iPhone and touch, so you'd be reasonably confident about at least some support, even if you it'll cost you!
Oh look - the 'iTablet'

Apple are going to despatch a huge fleet of lawyers..
wtf runs windows7, screenshot is XP. My vaperware alert is tingling.

...and a claimed 2GB of cache!
