The news was so depressing I went and ordered Sky HD. I just have to watch the World Cup in high-def, particularly now that Terry and Bridge might be put together in the back four - can\'t afford to miss that kind of action!

You won't be disappointed. I've had SkyHD since launch day and have to get rid of it soon......I am going to miss the picture quality a lot....especially with regards to the footy :(

yay march in swansea and york....

so how do i exactly get freeviewHD?

in swansea i have a 50" samsung plasa with freeview built in and in york i have a normal freeview recording card

Already got SkyHD here, but thought it worth checking anyway.

My house in Norwich - 2011, My parrent\'s in Essex, Not Available. Hardly surprising since they don\'t get Freeview at all anyway....

You will need a DVB-T2 compatible set-top-box (or DVB-T2 tuner in a HTPC that is powerful enough to decode MPEG4).

Oh, and I should point out that http://ukfree.tv/ has had this info for a while now I believe, and I find it a much better resource for Freeview reception information.

as far as i am aware you need a freeview hd box, the existing sd ones cannot simply be firmware modded as its a hardware change too.

One of those is a satellite receiver and the other a very old USB DVB-T tuner with an unfortunate name. So it seems, alas, despite a few paper launches, things aren't moving yet...
