    No, I don't.

    Having said that, I do think it's the only way Skype and similar are going to succeed, because it's very easy to get everyone sitting in the living room in front of the TV to chat with Uncle Fred in Australia, but crowding family members round a laptop is just ridiculous and a pain in the arse for everybody.

    Mind you... "They don't come with built-in webcams". Which is sort of like selling a car with a fantastic surround-sound speaker system, but not bothering to include a radio. Ridiculous decision.

    Grandma, who I assume is the person with the new Samsung telly, seems to be sat at an office chair with her telly on a worktop. Also, she's far too close... she'll get square eyes
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Samsung have shown they have an eye for innovation and this is clearly one of those moments, but to not build in the two most obvious components that make skype possible, the webcam and mic, makes for a poor showing.

    I can only presume that the external webcam that they have planned as an add-on for people to buy will also include a mic and come in a variety of colours to match the colour of the TV, but since this is being marketed as a Skype product, these add-ons should be included as standard.

    I think the principle behind the idea of skype on our TV's is a sound one as usual with a lot of integration of devices and technologies, the final result falls short of being truly usable or anywhere near perfect and leaves a clear opening for the competition.

    I appreciate that from a sales point of view they will be able to look at how many web cams are sold and gauge consumer interest in the product and perhaps use this to calculate how much they need to pay skype for licensing or even how much skype needs to pay samsung for the privelege.

    Widescreen eyes
    My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

    0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
    scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

    Great idea, but I've never used Skype. So useless for me!
