so $640 then since there's usually about $40 extra on top-end graphics card pre-orders.

So in terms of price we're looking at 5970 territory. Need to wait and see if it has the performance to back up the price tag.

So how much you reckon then, £500 - maybe they will go for 480 Also, is it too late because you've just bought a new card ?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: News - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 makes untimely retail appearance

Not a good sign if that is even close to accurate for final release price.

I don't care how fast the thing is, pushing prices up like that is not going to help the company or customers. I think this might just be the nVidia equivalent of the R600... Too much focus on GPGPU computing for super computers and it's filtering into the gaming GFX line-up in terms of ridiculous price.

I just hope they have lower end models at decent prices for normal people.

Have Hexus managed to get hold of one of these for testing yet?

Hexus are likely to review it fairly and therefore will probably be quite low down on the list... Nvidia suck

Re: News - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 makes untimely retail appearance

I'm looking forward to how this thing performs. If it justifies the price tag then it will be a beast, if it doesn't then nvidia will finally have to take their finger out of their arses. I'm really hoping it's an absolute beast so that I will have more choice come my next upgrade

I mean nvidia can't be that stupid to price something so it must have something going for it to make the 600-odd dollars seem justifyable right?

Re: News - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 makes untimely retail appearance

Doubted, Nvidia will be relying on their superior marketing to sell these things at whatever price they want... until they realize (like the 4*** series) that that doesn't entirely work and they will have to drop the price and sell them at a loss.

Interesting stuff here which says that a GTX470 will give the power of a 5870 for the price of a 5850.

And then Nvidia's twitter recently annouced that they would be released on March 26th.

Re: News - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 makes untimely retail appearance

Well they are too late for me, my 5850 isn't moving for a while.

Will be interesting to see if I made the right move, but looking back it seems Nvidia have always had the top card while ATI have had the best value cards so if thats the case I am not worried.
