800x600 is a bit narrow for web browsing (unless it has decent scaling).
No mention of OS ?

First HP then MS now Dell.... All completely un-authorised with nothing to gain taking thunder out of apple, I for one, feel very sorry for Dell's plite after these unfortunate turn of events which they will in no way profit from....
Well we can thank Apple for kick starting the tablet/slate market. Can only be a good thing.
Hmm, now make it under £200 and you have a nice kindle alternative, for colour reading
- you won't of course beat kindle's eink display for long periods of pure text reading.
I think that's the tablet (and ipad) niche market niche really - colour ebooks and magazines ( with multimedia content i.e. videos).

I beg to differ. I have 480x800 on my Touch HD - which is indeed just wide enough for decent web browsing - but on a device with an extra 1.5" (a shade under 40% more space) I'd certainly be after a boost in resolution, and a 1024x600 or similar res would, I think, be appropriate. Just because 800 pixels is doable on most sites doesn't alter the fact that most are designed for 1024xwhatever screens.Quote:

Edit: Just tried out Hexus, BBC and eBay at 1024 vs 800 resolution. BBC fine at 1024, scrolls at 800. Hexus copes with 800 without scrolling :) - although does become rather long and thin (much better than scrolling though). Ebay doesn't even cope at 1024, it needs 1280 to display a list of products without scrolling. And if you set your resolution lower than 1024x768, even Windows 7 advises you that some items may not fit on the screen.
