7 PCIe x16 slots?
Still, I suppose with up to 12 physical cores available you could create one hell of a folding machine...
OMG e-peen
AWESOME!!!! But the most interesting thing here for me is:
DOES IT OVERCLOCK REGULAR (NON EXTREME) XEON VERSIONS I.E. THE 2.66 6 CORE ONES!?!?!?!?! AND CAN IT REALLY USE REGULAR DR3 RAM (DESKTOP) WHILE DOING SO!?!?!!?
COULDN'T FIND THE ABOVE OUT (though their site says non ecc memory accepted)
super t-rex sized e-peen...
24 threads and 6 x GTX 295 to fold (would fold with ATI if it was faster at it).
Set 3 of these running and you'll have no problem with the winter freeze.
*(which you'll probably need it with the savings to pay back the massive mortgage)*
Me want Ultrabook
Just be careful not to assault a police officer with it..
heres a tread with one machine built up on a pre release board.
For all you folders out there. it's capable of 100,000 ppd

That's 100,000 World Community Grid points per day, which is probably not the same as 100k Folding@Home points per day.
Still, that's an awesome score. I have two iMacs running 2.8 GHz Core2 Duos and a PC running a 3 GHz Core2 Quad and on a good day I get just over 30k WCG points. 100k points from a single machine is mind-blowing.
This talk of folding has always confused me, I am willing to donate some of my computers spare time to the cause etc. But building a machine just to fold? what do you get from this? I hear people talking about points and scores but what does that mean? do you get paid? do you get prizes? or do you just really support the cause?
Help me understand why.
As long as you can get round the Intel chipset issues with PERC cards, you could have 6x 8 drive RAID-5/6 arrays.
So that would make 48 on dedicated RAID controllers and about 8 for on the on board controller.
I know there are seven slots, but you need one for a graphics card
Me want Ultrabook
