    Out of interest whats the actual difference in one of these and a 5870? basically where does the extra cost come from.

    I know there is a few 4870s here at work but I have no idea why as I only saw the invoice.

    difference is in the drivers... they "qualify" them for certain applications. $1500 is VERY competitive (against NVidia). It "CAN" make the difference between working and not working in some cases. Basically programmers doing many tests etc
