Re: News - G.Skill stakes a claim for world's fastest DDR3 memory
what possible use could 2.5GHz memory have?
unless you have an i7 running at a base clock of 350MHz
Re: News - G.Skill stakes a claim for world's fastest DDR3 memory
oh stop it already with world's most aggressively binned memory.
give us world's cheapest memory at JDEC spec.
Re: News - G.Skill stakes a claim for world's fastest DDR3 memory
Less speed, more density!!
Re: News - G.Skill stakes a claim for world's fastest DDR3 memory
What is it lately with all these 'we have the fastest RAM' news items? It's not like it even makes much of a difference in real-world applications; buy standard RAM and spend the extra on a faster CPU/GPU, it will make far more of a difference! As above, stop it with the 'we have the ever-so-slightly-fastest' race and concentrate on making it cheaper or something!

Oh no my 1333mhz DDR3 is out of date...
Wait I minute I am currently underclocking it anyway...
Still not seen a deal to mach the £21.99 per 2GB I got it at, only reason I went for 8GB really.

You would need a baseclock of 208-209 and a memory multiplier of 12 to get to 2500mhz

The link isn't working :(
But anyway, RAM doesn\'t need to get faster at the moment it needs to get cheaper! It\'s almost £100 for a decent 4GB set these days!

Re: News - G.Skill stakes a claim for world\'s fastest DDR3 memory
Got my 3x1GB G.Skill 1333 back for £39. Would love to go up to 6GB, but it costs £100 for even a 1600Mhz kit, then £150 for an 1866 CAS 8 kit.
Still, faster memory is always good if you can afford it; it helps remove any non-CPU bound overclock limits.
Re: News - G.Skill stakes a claim for world\'s fastest DDR3 memory
Higher frequencies are all well and good...
..but we want 4G sticks that don\'t cost a small fortune, or failing that the price of 2G sticks to come back to more sensible/reasonable levels.
Re: News - G.Skill stakes a claim for world\'s fastest DDR3 memory
I would also like the RAM manufacturers to think about what sort of person is buying these sticks when they design the heat spreaders.
If someone is buying the highest frequency RAM, then chances are they will also have a large aftermarket CPU cooler, and the taller the fins on the RAM, the fewer coolers these will fit under.
I have a set of Corsair Dominator, and these just fit in besides my TRUE 120 once the fan is mounted. A couple of mm taller and it wouldn\'t fit.

Presumably if you're buying RAM like this you'll be watercooling...
