Wait a second, $699 in the USA
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adobe-CS5-Ph...066138&sr=8-10
£910 in the UK.
American Airlines have their economy flights promotion to NY for £299 inc taxes return.....
Yes I'm going to buy it in the UK aren't I!
/creams
Adobe are really starting (to put it politely) to extract the urine (anyone used bundlebox yet?)
I'm going to have someone in the US buy this for me - Adobe have always been known for being awful, but, the pricing is even worse than last time.
Master Collection, new - $2599 (£1685) vs £2706
Upgrade is $899 (£583) vs £932
Essentially we can mearly get 2 for the price of 1 by buying in the USA! I know we have VAT in this country, but, this is just unbelievable. Maybe I should go pay the Adobe office in Edinburgh a quick visit and let them know what I think!
Too expensive to buy it legally. Ahoy the ship, maties!
Why not just use GIMP or a cheaper product? Pirating will just enable them to increase prices further due to lack of competition.
Why are you comparing the normal version in the US to the extended version in the UK? Extended version in the US is $999+taxes, or put another way, the UK version is only £774 compared to $999.
*double post, delete*
Ah I read that $699 in an article and thought, well hoped I suppose, it was the extended.
Why use photoshop when you can use GIMP? The 'content aware deletion' being touted as a brand new feature in CS5 has been available since 2005 in the GIMP, aka the resynthesizer plugin. Its even been developed by the same guy...
Because people are stupid and think expensive = good.
Because people often prefer what they are used to rather than try new things.
The content aware fill video from Adobe also looks better than the GIMP plug-in. Adobe for its sins does have a large number of resources to throw at the development and could easily improve on it.
I do wish Adobe had decided to "delay" the Mac version of CS5 just to spite Apple :)
it wouldn't do much, Apple have such brand loyalty even if Adobe released videos of their suite running faster on a £300 cheaper windows laptop, their fans would just ignore it.
At a photography club I was told I obviously know nothing about computers for having an F series VAIO rather than a MBP. I pointed out it was considerably cheaper, with a much faster processor, more RAM, better screen (100% ARGB coverage thank you) and a kick arse SSD (with TRIM obviously) for less than the price of their MBP pro....... They didn't have much to say expect the usual "oh but it runs faster under OSX bollocks" which is so easy to dis-prove, look how quick it opens on mine (SSD) look how quick I can run this filter (core i7). I honestly don't know why I ever let myself get dragged into those debats with an art student who spends her time smoking daddys money on pot, meanwhile I'm earning extortionate sums for people who want my ideas on what makes software great!
