    About damn time!

But nothing in the 13" for a i7? Surely that can't be right?

Bit disappointed with the 13" version, I see no real reason to upgrade my 13" MBP

Also a bit surprised they haven't gone SSD on them all either.

You can get SSDs - have to pay extra, click on Customize or whatever its called.

Apple's cutting edge OS still doesn't support TRIM. I guess they blew it.

How many people are complaining about degradation of performance because of TRIM? [or rather lack of it]

    Haven't seen any.

Everyone keeps moaning about it but most of them people don't know what/how its affecting them [if at all]

Cool thing to have/say but is it practical?

    Wait what?!

Yes the performance of SSDs falls off without TRIM. This is not a question in doubt, this is a easily understood fact.

If your going to spend £300+ and thats what all the good ones still cost in any reasonable capacity for a laptop, you damn well want it to last without having to re-format all your data.

(outside of a laptop, on one of my 3 powerful dev boxes I had at an old place, this was not a problem, on a laptop that has heavy use, ie not a netbook... Its essential, given the target sterotype of photo geeks, it just shows how the reality distortion field works. I cannot imagine a more stupid sentiment than the "but is trim practical".)

Quite fancy the 15" model with the 1680 x 1050 screen, Win 7 install (dons flame proof coat), Steam installed and I would have a nice upgrade from my 13" Macbook

To pre empt posts I have given OSX and jsut prefer Windows 7, perhaps because I have been a Windows user for so long and I am stuck in my ways , Do a fair bit of gaming on the laptop so makes sense, however with Steam coming out for Mac things could change

I'm not gonna comment on Apple pricing.

    Have you owned/currently have SSD?

Matey I don't own any Apple hardware so re-think what you just said.

That, my friend, is very obvious, if you did you'd probably get the joke.

Re: News - Apple MacBook Pro gets Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors

I was excited about the mobile i7, until I realised that it's basically half an i7. 2 cores, 4 threads. That means it's not really better than the i5, and not an awful lot better than previous offerings...
