Antec TruePower Quattro 1200 PSU brings power to the people, and then some

Just how far can you push it? Well, going to the extreme, Antec hooked one up to EVGA's Classified SR-2 motherboard, four GeForce GTX 480 graphics cards in SLI and a pair of overclocked Intel Xeon E5640 processors running at 4GHz apiece

It seems odd to list the PSU as 1200W if there's significant headroom on top of that, at least for non-techie "ooo, that generic 1250W PSU must be better that Antec 1200W" population. Although I suppose not all units may produce such decent headroom.

Not surprised. My Antec 650 sg can pull 1000+ watts before shutting down. It seems that Antec PSU's can usually pull more that they're supposed to; it's the other way around with el cheapo PSU, if they are rated for, say, 500 watts, they will shut down (or burn) on a 300 watts load.

I'm sure there's a need for 1kw+ PSU but Antec did this (link below) about the need for it ??? I suppose they are filling the market !
