    ROFL at upgrade prices

    Price OUCH!

There are many similar ~2Kg 13.3" machines out there, including some with newer i3/i5 CPUs for much less money than that, even when you include the "Windows Tax"...

HP Probook 4320s for example, under £800...

The upgrades are expensive but to be honest, getting such a long battery life that is flush with the system is pretty good. Apple did a good job with that. And you get a good quality iSight camera. I think it is reasonable. If only it is not an Apple but a PC

One of the main reasons why I bought a 13" MBP was because of the 10 hour battery life and the Core 2 Duo processor.. Loads more power than a netbook and more battery life than most.

    I love it .

Re: News - Apple MacBook refresh: CPU and GPU upgrades now available

The battery is better than most other laptops as it can do 1000 cycles whereas others do around 300 cycles, do any other brands offer a 1000 cycle battery?

Agreed. MBP is even more a compelling reason as it is really a well designed laptop. The fact that Apple can pack a slot loading drive in such a thin case with a flush battery is really good. But unfortunately, Apple is not for me.

The problem is they tend to catch fire after 100.

Re: News - Apple MacBook refresh: CPU and GPU upgrades now available

Well, I've not used a MacBookPro, so perhaps they are an exception, but I generally speaking, I find that manufacturers often exaggerate the battery life. 10 hours of doing what?

I got 9 hours of browsing the internet, being on MSN and writing up a few news things for Hexus on Friday, turned it on at 2pm and put it away at a little before 11pm and it hadn't died in that time..
