Re: News - Contactless payment comes to the iPhone

Contactless payment is just one giant fail in my eyes. I'd rather spend an extra, what, ten seconds? and key in a PIN. As soon as contactless payment kicks off, there is just going to be a whole lot of people getting money stolen from their cards without ever knowing how, when or where.

I think we might all be surprised at the sophistication of the security of these things.

They have that in Japan. It is a bit sad to say this, but I'd probably be more reluctant to use such technology here than there (during my last trip, I know of two people who lost their wallets, and both were recovered with all contents intact). Weirdly enough, I have seen in at least two places where the card reader did not ask for ID.

Yeah, I know Japan has that kind of reputation.

I'm told that people think nothing of parking a bike on a road and then leaving the helmet and gloves sitting on the seat whilst they go and get some food, or do some shopping.

Petty crime in Japan is very, very low (same goes for Singapore). However organised crime is much more of a problem than in the west.

This started when they bought an iPhone
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

If a mobile device is lost or stolen, account holders should contact their issuer.
As the number of peripheries and attachments grows, it astonishing how much insecure unencrypted information people store and have access to on their not very smart phones.

yes, but how many people put all that on their facebook profile!

now with the geo-location thingie, how many people have friends who decided that they wanted to see the hot girls covered in chocolate sauce video so badly they were willing to download and install the codec pack, as admin....

I have my contactless barclaycard credit card stuck to the back of my htc magic. What the difference between that and this?

If you have the chip implanted into your hand, can you go all Jedi on the stores ass and use the force to pay for things?

The interesting thing though, is that in some countries, organised crime involves training pick pocketer (at times going as far as getting children to do the deeds as they often can not be detained). Seems to me that organised criminal in Japan must have found something far more rewarding for their efforts.
