these are dreadfully low res for a screen of that size. Anyone else thinking that someone has just simply re-used some surplus screen stock and bunged a micro bezel on it? I can't believe it's such a big deal to put as little frame around these as possible.

I can believe it tbh - if it's designed for advertising, then it'll be hovering way above people's heads, probably off the roof in a train station or something. That res is perfect for showing text clearly on a big screen, considering the distance that people will be viewing it from.
