Unfortunately I can see this becoming a 2 horse race between Apple and Android.

I'd like to see MS join with Pre as both have a clear market and they can take share away from RIM
The Blackberry Storm 2 is actually not a bad phone IMHO. I would rather prefer RIM to produce a competitive OS to both Android and iOS and this way it will keep things competitive.

Funnily enough it seems that Blackberry and Symbian are ahead of iOS in market share:

Most of the people with symbian don't know what it is lol.

Finlay, I haven't used the screen, but imo it will be a step up from 800x480 (I have been using a touch hd for the past 18 months). Plus IPS has some advantages over the desire/N1 screen. I'm happy to stick with the desire though until a higher res android is released.

Yeah thats the big killer, its a typical Apple advert, your so focused on the guy and what he is saying you dont notice the notes at the bottom, the bits where it says sequences have been shortened or you need wifi for it to work, all you hear is how awesome it is and how its going to change everything, again, but again it has nothing new, but again the Apple marketting machine goes into overdrive, and again people will buy it because it has an Apple logo on it...

Re: News - As leaked: Apple launches iPhone 4

Well i'll certainly be upgrading from my old trusty 8GB 3G.

It's what the 3GS should have been in the first place imo. Its finally nice to have a half decent camera which takes decent video res. The screen looks superb, and the new A4 is a nice upgrade - now we just need to wait for the jailbreaks to roll in!

Not really arsed about 3G/Wifi chat - never used it and i doubt i never will. Though it does seem odd that wifi is the only way of doing video chat - even though 3G has supported it for yonks!

Re: News - As leaked: Apple launches iPhone 4

Look, its only when Apple do something that it becomes acceptable. People innovate ideas before Apple use them in their own 'magical' way, and they are not used. I can see video calling taking off because Apple put it in their new phone. I see slate devices taking off more because Apple did the iPad. Its sad but true.

I NEVER used video calling, except for a novelty purpose. I didn't use the front camera on my phone because the quality was rubbish.

The screen tech on the iPhone 4 is amazing though. Those deals O2 et al are bantering around, I bet they are for a 2yr contract. So that counts me out. 2yrs is SO long to be tied to a particular smartphone device.

*yawn*. As far as I can see, still no MMS, still no sending pictures/files over bluetooth.

Fix the basic technology before adding useless crap.

But I think it was fixed in 3.1

    This.

Apple introduced MMS a while back now, and it works fine - ok they took their time getting there.

    But its there!

Would never buy apple out of principle, this will proabably be the 1st in 3 or 4 Generations where they release simple improvement with each gen which they could have done in the 1st one quite easily ... not that i blame them, some people get taken by the "ooooh Shiney" .... im just not that gulable ....

Dont get me wrong its probably a good phone, however Apple's way of re-inventing things that have been around for ages and charging through the nose for it doesnt wash with me ....
