I just wish they would do the same thing for mobile contract providers.... This is probably more obscene than land-line companies.
Ben
True true, about time too.
The big problem with mobile phone contracts is you've taken a phone with the deal. Mobile phone operators tie you down to periods of upto 24 months as they have to recover those costs and then of course make some money too. Hence if you take a sim only contract then there are usually only 30 day contracts.
Wish they had brought this in sooner. I'm about to cancel 6 months early with BT :(
o2 not mentioned in the list there, they have you pay up till the end for broadband cancellations. Some BT plans also auto renew which gets you with a cancellation charge too. The major issue I see is the connection charge bull****, the previous tenant had talktalk, hadn't cancelled it early enough so it was still active when I moved in then talktalk refused to transfer the service to me. Consequently I was left with a phone I couldn't use for two or so weeks which delayed the broadband too. And of course BT made me pay the connection charge despite the fact I could hear the dial tone singalling it was activated.
