The bladeless fan that promises "smooth, uninterrupted airflow" just got a whole lot bigger.

I feel like the last one should be dipped in soapy water first.

Hehe :D
I want to know what happens if you put your hand in it.

i heard about these the other week, but when googling about them i found that they weren't as good as a normal fan, yet about ten times the price
Re: News - Dyson Air Multiplier made available in pedestal and tower flavours
I know they're totally pointless but I still really want one! £299 for the big ones isn't that expensive either... ;)

Put your hand in it and your arm cools down. Right in the centre there is virtually no air flow as the circular frame is where the jets are, all facing forward.
I want to know how well these would propel a small ball if thrown in from the back

Nothing much happened when I did. Funkstar is right about the very middle, because I couldn't even be sure it was turned on, but moved to the side and you can feel it.
As for the small ball, my guess is that it wouldn't go far at all.
Standing in front of one, it certainly didn't feel like it was shifting anything like the air volume of my £15 floor-standing conventional fan, but then, I guess the whole point is that you aren't supposed to feel much. The thing is, it's the movement of air, the slight buffeting, that I like when it's really hot .... and that, of course, is when I want to use a fan.
I guess the advantage is that they aren't as likely to blow papers around, etc, but to be honest, while I admire a clever design, I was totally underwhelmed by them in operation. As a clever novelty, it's a win. But for a fan, I'd much rather have my £15 standard fan than a clever but stupidly overpriced design icon.
Each to his own I guess, but my assessment of these is that anyone who actually buys one either has more money than sense, or needs their brains tested. But then, I think that about a lot of things that many people actually buy, stupidly-priced designer jeans being close to top of the list. To paraphrase Barnum, they say there's one born every minute, but I'd say it's a lot more than one.
Re: News - Dyson Air Multiplier made available in pedestal and tower flavours
I'd buy one if I was ridiculously wealthy and wanted to make my office look good.
I'd much rather do that than blow £3k on some rubbish artwork from the local dealer.
Re: News - Dyson Air Multiplier made available in pedestal and tower flavours
I bought a couple of rather nice pictures for around that price snootyjim, its really nice to have an original of something, knowing that no one else can have the same thing (at best they can have a print). I might admit I think my pictures were a much better investment than many of my shares! Not that I ever intend to sell them (the pictures) in the end I will probably give them to an art gallery.

If I was rich, I would get air conditioning.

That's about all they are good for. Ridiculously over priced, it a fan for Christ sake. £15 or £299, we're only going to use it for the 3 months of summer we get in this country anyway.
Rather invest my money in central heating for the rest of the year when I freeze my ass off.
:D
Well done dyson... It looks well cool, but really?
:stupid:
