Not surprised its selling well after the released too early and not completed Vista OS, that we were conned into buying to get DX10 capability.

I now have Windows 7 pro 64bit. Got pro OEM for same price as home retail version.

It would be nice to see the beta guys (me) get a free copy in the Uk as well as some lower upgrade prices (to mash Apple in).

Some bundles wouldnt be a bad idea in the UK. I'd upgrade the rest of my house if i could buy 3 licences for the price of 2 for example...

Yep, same here - the RC I signed up for was rock solid. So when they did the pre-order specials I nabbed a copy of 7Pro, even though it was probably going to be 12 months before I had a machine that could do it justice. Well done Microsoft ...
My eldest kid migrated XP Home to 7HP (she's a Linux holdout!) and has nothing but praise for it - it's quick, relatively stable*, and just does what she wants in the way she expects. As someone of my acquaintance said "it's like Vista, but with most of the dumb s**t implementations fixed". Heck, my daughter even asked me to demote her to a normal user (no admin rights) because she hardly needs them - which has got to be good for security.

When I finally get to replace my old clunker tower with some multicore goodness, I'll have no reservations about using my 7Pro as a backup to my main system (which runs Ubuntu) cum gaming rig.

(* only problem that the 7HP system has is that sometimes - about 2 in every 5 times - it refuses to powerdown, and sits there at the "shutting down..." screen until powered off manually).

    Bob.

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...
