Someone finally realised you don't need eleventy million cables connecting one device to another device.

Why has it taken them so long to figure this out though.....
they were probably waiting until most of the country had their HDMI kit.
Eugh, making it even harder to keep your playback devices from phoning home. With this, if even one device has an internet connection (e.g. media streamer) all the others can piggyback off of it. At least with HDMI 1.4 you can disconnect the ethernet pins.

So true... This sounds like it could be a fantastic technology, although I'm sure there's a fair amount of marketing hyperbole there that probably needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. Either way, it feels like a step in the right direction - and the sooner a technology like this gets some serious traction the better if you ask me. Down with excess cables!
