Nokia phones have always been built like a brick, my N900 feels very solid. Symbian has been letting them down, it's just a bit behind the times. MeeGo builds on Maemo, Maemo is good it just lacks some polish, depth and a good app store. I think the influence of Intels Moblin team will bring that.
A Nokia phone with a 1GHz+ OMAP processor, PowerVR SGX and a high resolution screen, slide out keyboard etc which runs MeeGo - would be a winner in my eyes.
symbian will never be able to do better than ios or android. its way too buggy, slow and just not user customizable. The only way they will win ppl back is by making sure that they create phones that wont crap out just because you visit somewhere high altitude.
Anssi Vanjoki is kidding himself and quite clearly has no idea what he is talking about. Comparing ios and Android to Symbian is complete rubbish and far fetched.
Anssi Vanjoki looks like another nail in the coffin for Nokia.
What do you expect him to say? 'Symbian is crap'?
Nokia is trying to implement too many different business plans at the moment, and have lost focus in what they do best - make phones
