Well if rumoured performance figures are anything to go by, this (these) will fill that price gap rather nicely.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
At a guess they should beat the POS 5830 and get beaten by the 5850 and hopefully force a price drop in the whole 58xx series
I'm SO out of the loop on GPUs now. It even seems, to some degree, that you can't always go on price as an indicator of good card these days.
*grumble grumble*
My HTPC: Linky
That's been a big issue in the GPU sector for several generations.
I'm interested in the fact that it's got 336 CUDA cores for £170 @ 675Mhz (~50p each)
vs. GTX 280 @ 600Mhz (£170, 240 cores) - 71p each
vs. GTX 470 @ 600Mhz (£250, 448 cores) - 56p each
vs. GTX 480 @ 700Mhz(£340, 480 cores) - 71p each
If you put it that way, the 460 may be the killer card in the CUDA lineup. Bung two or three in.
How does this compare to the old generation of cards, specifically my trusty GTX 260 ?

GTX260 - 192/216 Cuda Cores (depending on model) at 575Mhz
GTX460 - 336 Cuda Cores at 675Mhz
So in terms of pure grunt, 336/216 * 675/575 = 83% increase.
In reality, DX11 and probably going from med to high or high to very high depending on screen size/game.
Or get a 460 and use the 260 as a PhysX card.
Also, would like to point out, preorder at OCuk is £160.
