Shame they aren't selling off the old models cheaply; not that I'd buy one though...

"Sporting a new cinematic 16:9 aspect ratio" you guys almost make that horrible, dirty, nasty, morally wrong idea sound like a plus.

But other than that, seams quite reasonable, assuming its the same NEC panel that is going for about ~£600 in the dell cloathing.

So how much for the added webcam, and macbook doc, sounds fair enough, and the idea of better packaging is a plus, the amount of wasted packing on these large screens is obscene.

I would seriously consider one of these if they made them officially compatible for use with PC's

As it stands I believe you have to use adaptors and modified drivers to make it work correctly?

Considering that the kind of people who buy these monitors (at least, as far as I know) tend to be professionals working in some sort of graphics/design/media editing type field (and not people watching HD movies on some non-Blu-ray format ), I was a bit surprised when I saw that it was a 16:9. Again, as far as I know, those types tend to prefer the slightly taller displays. I guess you could still happily edit 1080p video while having space below for storyboards and whatnot with 1440px vertical.

Suppose 16:9 is just the way the market is going though.

If you mean can they run windows officially, then yes.

Simply use the apple bootcamp tool (preinstalled on OS X), to resize the partition,
then reboot with your windows install CD

Apple drivers for windows are included with all Macs now (on the OS X CD).

I must admit to being a sucker for Apple products (I own an iphone4 )

But I do appreciate you are paying a lot for the name and the design, the guts of the monitor could probably be bought elsewhere under a different brand name, which other monitors use this same panel with LED backlighting? I'd be interested in checking out some reviews.

    Thanks

I think he means straight onto a Windows PC, plug and play style. And yes, I think you have to use those gimp mini-DP > DVI connectors.

It's just what the market is pushing. I'm having a terrible time finding 16:10 displays.

Otherwise, the screen features everything that you'd expect from a high end monitor,
Apart from connectivity. If I'm spending $1000 on a monitor, I expect an absolute minimum of 4-5 different inputs. A single input on a monitor like this is a joke.

    Exactly!

Having said that just yesterday I bought the new Zotac GTX460 which has 2x DVI, 1x HDMI, 1x DP connector (however the display port is the larger type rather than mini DP) do you think I could connect this monitor using a mini DP> DP connector and it just work?
