But will it be subscription-based? - i.e. money to Microsoft every year for Xbox Live? As a poor student () who doesn't own an Xbox, the idea of shelling out £15/year or whatever it is would stick in my throat somewhat, unless games are included in that price.

I think as they are not offering real time multiplayer yet, only turn based, it would be a bit cheaky.

But things like the Zune pass are very tempting.

Only thing is, this feels like its a zune, not a phone. There is a lot to be said about keeping them separate. This last weekend I did a small cycling trip, it was very useful to have my fully charged phone last me all 3 days without adapters requiring precious bag space. GPS + Google Maps are very useful to stop getting lost especially when you start to get tired after that first 80k. If i'd been listening to music, the battery life would have been so much less

In that situation wouldn't it be best just to take a small, cheap mp3 player along with your phone?

Or buy a couple of spare batteries with the money you've saved by not buying an MP3.

Have to admit though, I've never used my phone as an MP3 player and doubt I will for a good while.

No use for me as a business user tho, if they can nail Office mobile on Android then my next phone will be Android based.

Or a spare battery, because you know, I took that iPhone 4 back.

Which bit, WinMob7 being a gaming platform is no use to me and even with the Sence interface WM6.5.3 feels clunky compared to Android on the same hardware, IMHO they have missed the boat and sat on there collective arses when it comes to mobile phones, they had a good in with WM when smartphones started to come out and really should of done a lot more a lot quicker with what they had.

Re: News - Microsoft puts gaming at the core of Windows Phone 7

Win phone 7 isnt a gaming platform, its got the office stuf updated to be similar to newer versions of MS office. But they are adding features that will make it better for gaming, some of these features should also help out with office apps, such as better use of voice control.

heres some excel to keep everybody happy

First two thirds of that trailer were just iphone copy marketing, interestingly the last two thirds showed new games and ideas but bizarrely the music cut out. It's like they only finished the first bit and gave up. Looks alright though those bottom buttons look stupid and clunky.
