Don't like it then don't buy it.

How are the acts of the Taliban any worse than the serious evils committed by nazis, our own troops in historical wars or anything that many other groups represented in games have done?

It's hardly going to turn people into jihadists by playing a game is it. Liam Fox is a f$%^wit.

maybe he should spend more time sorting out his expenses and helping the troops out there rather than moaning about a computer game. he's obviously got nothing better to do.

...it also appreciates the game is rated 18 and as such, will only be played by adults.
Yeah right, go and play MW2 online for a bit and just listen...

It's not Activision's fault it's been such a big success with people under 18. Although they are VERY annoying! All I want to do is have a game of Call of Duty without someone doing one of the following:

    1) Aimbot
    2) Wallhack
    3) Go prone at the slightest glimpse of someone
    4) Use G18 Akimbo
    5) Lightweight + Marathon + Tactical knife
    6) Noobtubes
    7) Stupid amounts of killstreak awards

Mainly all done by immature kids getting chuffed over their cheap kills.

And painkiller rewards you for being crap but I won't let myself post a huge rant about what's wrong with the game.

I totally understand the deathstreaks.. They give nooby players a better chance. Nothing worse than just endlessly being killed .

Re: News - Britain’s defence secretary calls for game ban

This is usual medal of honor coverage of a war, small stories from real soldiers which are then made into an America rules collage. Britain isn't featured but I thought it was acceptable for people to become angry about issues even if they had no vested interest, called humanity I think. It is a bit close to home this time but they're really not going all out to court controversy (no amputations from bombs or troops blowing up due to poor equipment) which is a shame in a way as other mediums will make statements about war using their method of storytelling and it might make government types actually treat the industry with the respect it deserves.

This would of course require people to play the game, which given it isn't out yet and people are still making snap judgements, seems unlikely to happen. I tried the multiplayer beta and found it a buggy mess on PC and the only controversy was how little play testing had gone into it on the PC. From my preview

"The two sides' classes are virtually identical, sure the insurgents have improvised explosive devices instead of trip mines but the differences are largely cosmetic. Those worrying that we might see children wielding AK-47s or land mines (an occurrence sadly all too common during the conflict) can sigh with relief."

Re: News - Britain’s defence secretary calls for game ban

Personally I find it more disgusting that our Defence Secretary thinks this is something that he should waste his time on, what happens in a game is just part of the game... Maybe he should pay more attention to the fact that our troops are getting shot for real in a farce of a war and put his efforts into sorting out that mess rather than creating media **** storms.

I totally agree, I mean, I'm personally very worried out the taliban recruiting the overweight, vitamin D deficient teenagers/students that are going to be sinking 25hrs a week+ into this game. Its a real concern.

Re: News - Britain’s defence secretary calls for game ban

Its because Dr Fox is is completely out of his depth in this role. Watch as we get ripped to shreds and our man power drastically reduced to pay for some submarines and aircraft carriers,(aircraft carriers that we won't have any planes or people to go on board at this rate) and a whole bunch of helicopters which will arrive as we are withdrawing from Afghanistan and be useful for feck all afterwards.

You know what, whilst we're looking to ban various computer games lets ban all driving sims. After all there have been some big name fatalities over the years, infact lets ban swimming aswell as it reminds me of the floods/Tsunami. What an arse.

Re: News - Britain’s defence secretary calls for game ban

Now serously this is one F**kered comment....

Let me just point out, even if you could be taliban, or british in the game it would make it better, I mean come on what is the world coming to when one idiot in the goverment thinks that a game representing the real world goings on should be banned.. (yet a game were you steal cars, throw petrol bombs, commit crime, pay a hooker in the ally for some favours, drag people out of a car, steal a tank from the army and go on a mass killing spree is ok!!!) GTA anyone.... MP's are clowns in the making really believe me.
