(and since when did $99 = £99 !!)

US price is without tax, UK price is with VAT, if VAT goes up this price probably won't change as they will want to keep the £99 price point. Add in the higher cost of doing business in the UK and you have the reasons. Also, there is the purely psycological reasons for pricing at £/$/€99.

They obviously just picked a price and want to sell it at that regardless of any exchange rate then. Apple like nice neat prices don't they? So you aren't going to get things like £87.23, that's going to be £99

Why would you want to do that?

For gym/running etc it feels perfectly in place.

Cause I want to use it in other activities where the clip increases the size over what I would like.
