I feel sorry for anyone who shelled out for an Ipad, each new release seems better then the last...and cheaper!
No access to the Android market, but access to Toshiba's own market... That a joke.
When will manufacturers stop trying to create new market places for their devices when perfectly good and full ones exist.
Hopefully the accelerometer can be disabled - I don't always want it to rotate depending on which way I hold it. For example, looking at pictures/using it while lying down.
Access to the Android Market is only available to devices with the ability to make phone calls, as it's a phone OS. Thus why Samsung's Galaxy Tab makes calls...
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!

They will as soon as Google give them access to the Android Marketplace. Probably with 3.0 hits, which will have proper tablet support and will no longer just be a phone OS. Once this happens there won't really be much point in Chrome OS in my opinion, it would be better to just have it as a layer on top of Android.
So Toshiba state 7 hours of battery life... nearly 2 hours of which is when the device is turned off...
I always wondered how these mobile device people worked out quoted battery life. Plucking random numbers out of a hat it appears.
This is too thick too. Not big enough for regular use at home and too thick to be usefully mobile (compared to competitors). I suppose it would be OK for use in bed or something, but that's where I see the uses stop.
erm guys
Think your missing "0.".....For reference, this is 6mm thicker and 30g heavier than the 3G iPad.

I haven't really followed Android that closely...and I have an ipad (please don't hate me).
I REALLY wanted to wait for a Tegra wonder tablet but got fed up waiting.
My question; when the wave of tablets start to flow over the next few months, will the apps be there? When I last looked, most apps I would want were "coming soon" or not compatible.
The one thing I do love about the ipad is buying, loading, using apps (any apps) is sooo simple and a joy to use.
For real app support Android 3 is really needed. At the moment Google do not support the use of Android on non phone devices. This will change with v3. I can't remember when it is due though.
I use it as a very big Tomtom when I travel. I love Amazon Kindle software, a few games (graphics on games is very nice). Use Logmein a lot, a good Flickr viewer (I use FlickrStackr), Skype. I used to use Spb Wallet on the ppc and I use that too now on ipad (was able to port my passwords easily).
There are probably a lot of alternatives to these on android and I'm sure in a years time I will look at Android more seriously. Its just the ease of buying, installing, using apps that I love about the ipad.
Installing apps on an Android phone is no more difficult than an iPhone. brows the Market Place, select an app you want, tap install, it tells you what resources the app will require (network access, GPS, storage, that kind of thing) confirm it and it installs. Job done. The market place checks for updates to all your apps in the background and notifies you if any are available. You can choose to install the updates or not. This can all be done over 3G or Wifi.
I guess if you buy an app there is an extra confirmation stage in there, but I haven't bought one yet so I don't know.
Maybe I'm worrying over nothing but I assumed the variety of different screen resolutions, different hardware, etc would mean many apps won't run properly or be supported? Especially on the newer tablets with large resolutions
