Yeah, it's getting silly isn't it. These are displays for doing things on a computer. They are NOT exclusively for watching films!

Next thing it'll be screens with a ratio of 2.35:1

They are cheaper to make AFAIK, if you want to pay more than there are monitors out there at 1920x1200.

Personally I find 1080 enough vertical height, I put my taskbar at the left or right rather than the bottom and remove useless taskbars in apps. I can fit two useful windows next to each other still with Windows 7 drag and snap feature.

Dell monitors are good value for money, just beware some of their bargain basement ones only have a VGA input, no DVI or HDMI.

Re: News - Dell launches four new consumer-monitors

I think what disappoints me more than the 16:9... is the lack of display port.

Almost all of Dell's recent PCs come with display port outputs, but only their higher end monitors actually support it

well im still looking for a monitor, was almost set on getting a iiyama 24" LED display or maybe the BenQ LED monitor.... if dell bring that 24" one to England in the next month or two then id probably snap that up as Dell displays are excellent, just cant afford to spend £400+ for their current IPS (i think LED too) panel so have to stick with TN

Honestly, I'd probably go for the 23in model. At that price, is the extra inch that important?

Unless you're pairing it with an existing 24in model in some sort of multi-screen set up, would you really notice losing the inch?

Re: News - Dell launches four new consumer-monitors

no i guess your right, just that im on a 22" display at the minute so would like to jump a bit more but then again the ppi would be higher on the 23" so probs better to get that and maybe pair it with another later on .

Shall see what the reviews say about these displays before getting one though as i can never decide.

edit: Well i notice that dell provide a 3 year warranty with them, didnt know they did that as i thought standard was 12months haha.... very temped by the £179 23" monitor.... may not even wait till reviews are out but i dont know how well that price will hold haha.

    So hard to decide.

edit2: wow... quidco do 10% so thats £17.90 off! This is so painful, only £161 oh dear so hard to resist. Must sell this 4870 and waterblock to try and justify it, for sale thread on the way lol.

I've got a 19 incher at the moment. Mainly gaming, my usage is.

Are these dell ones OK for gaming?

Edited to make myself sound less moronic: I'm not up on monitor tech. would a FPS gamer find these monitors suitable, or is there some reason to avoid?
