Ooh...this should be fun. I think there must be some new stuff otherwise they're just re-doing old franchises. CS:S is still popular enough to be left to it, TF2/L4D2/Portal are all covered currently. That leaves HL but a gap for 2 more. Hmm..

    They'll announce an upcoming announcement.
The upcoming announcement will announce HL2:EP3
Then they'll release HL2:EP3 as a mac exclusive

I think if they did that they'd have to have bloody good defences on all their servers and HQ's

I thikn they'll be releasing a new update to the steam client that makes Glados become self aware, with all announcements being made by the TF2 announcer.

Given all the updates they are doing to CS:S atm, I highly doubt there would another CS

Half Life something is in the offing if you ask me - either a whole new game (HL3) or EP 3 on a new(er) engine etc. I'm not really that interested in CS or L4D stuff tbh and i'd like to see Valve invest in their primary IP (which I love) - I suspect they've been busy, but very quiet about it as per usual.

Re: News - Trio of "big surprises" from Valve in the next 12 months

The finale of Half Life 2, yet to be finshed?
An integration of Half Life and Portal Technology?
Multiplayer Portal in an escher type world of impossible physics?
    Portal 2, looks awesome!
    Half Life 3?

Something else completely different? Valve have become a cornerstone in quality games, really looking forward to whatever they product. What could topple "The Orange Box"?

Re: News - Trio of "big surprises" from Valve in the next 12 months

    I think they will be:

    1) DOTA
    2) Something entirely out of the blue not directly related to any particular game, (probably steam based).
    3) HL2:E3

However... this will all be on Valve time, so I doubt we'll make it to HL2:E3 before mid-2012...

    Portal 2 - 9 Feb 2011

Although as it was announced ages ago, I can't see it being this.

Re: News - Trio of "big surprises" from Valve in the next 12 months

TBH I'll probably find Portal 2 a bit of a yawnfest - while the original concept was good, it's going to have bulk out on the storyline/plot, if it's going to be a must buy.

    Notebook - MacBook Pro 13" i5 Early 2011
