Just remember...not all lawyers are evil!

Sure, some of them are...a lot maybe. But not all!

Thank you, Bulldogg, was just about to say, as I have on another thread:

Please don't tar us all with the same brush, guys. I know you won't. This fella sounds like a particularly objectionable opportunist.

Maybe I should read the thread in more detail, but: where does MOST of the money he collects go? Does he keep it?

Re: News - Anti-piracy lawyer's private's on the chopping block

i don't know what you'd call this lot.................not without the swear/profanity filter kicking it but their days could be numbered in relation to this kind of behaviour. a bit bored earlier so i was sad enough to have a butchers at some of the mails. in one he's concerned/worried by the amount of complaints against him/company - quite right to.

since this has all kicked off there has been a bit of a hooha over on the torrentfreak & slyck forums, which i believe acs have tried to silence.

it looks like he also had the details of some 5500 BSkyB users about file sharing `adult` movies - which he had data farmed - apparantly 1 allready has got him a summons for total breach of the data protection act.

Yeah, how does that work? If he requested details from the ISP, how has he breached DPA?

Crossley's been a scammer from the start. Absolute bottom of the barrel ; worse than 419 scammers, worst than 'accident within the last 3 years?' ambulance chancers.

Let's see him try and stop this spreading further than it already has.

It was ACS:Law who leaked the emails. After changing servers after a DDoS attack they left the entire db open to the public. If that wasn't bad enough, EVERYTHING was unencrypted and stored in either plain text or attachments. He's in massive breach of the DPA and I hope to god the SRA and everyone else finally throw the book at him. He's been terrorizing the UK for too long!

Re: News - Anti-piracy lawyer's private emails exposed

Hmmmm.... we shall see... my view of the DPA is that it's regarded as very clever, and something that we can point at and say "aren't we good" but that the gov't probably aren't fussed about enforcing unless it relates to them, and the CPS probably don't have a clue what to do about it when someone breaches it.

I don't have a very high opinion of the CPS. Comes from having to deal with them *shudder*.

According to the artists themselves, they haven't yet received a single penny from litigation settlements.

It all goes to the lawyers and the record/production companies. MPAA/RIAA et al represent the companies not the artists.

I'm not going to post any links here to them, because they contain so many peoples personal data, but they are frighteningly easy to get hold of.

Some of the more relevant tidbit's here; http://torrentfreak.com/acslaw-anti-...emails-100925/ (Mods: not a torrent site, but feel free to remove if you feel it's over the line, I don't, but I can understand if you might)

I didn't want to download the torrent (as no real interest in the nitty gritty bits) but am interested in what the said emails contain. Don't think I'd risk visiting torrentfreak from work so will check when I get home.

Yeah I've not downloaded it either, not going anywhere near it, despite it being technically publicly released, but I did want to see the incriminating evidence everyone was talking about and no I wouldn't open any URL with the word torrent in from work either.

Felt the need to throw my hands up and go "it's not what you think", just posting it on here.

Oh this lot are - it was obvious beforehand and now it's emphatically true.

I'm on the fence about the rest of them though
