Like so many Microsoft Research projects, LightSpace is likely to be confined to the lab for the time being

..and that's been Microsoft's failing in recent years.

Surface could have filtered down to the masses and taken much of the space the iPad is now taking or even the iphone - a while BEFORE either of these existed.
..and I can't help thinking we'll all have tablets looking like the Microsoft Courier project soon too...
