I think the savings in power will be mostly offset by a boost in performance

According to leaked pricing on OcUK the HD6850 1GB should be around £150 and the HD6870 1GB around £200.

someone jumped the gun

6850 faster than the 1 gig 460 in all tests except far cry2 and there both quicker than the 5870 at times , similar story to the 6870 and the gtx 470


edit 2;

although at times the `win` is 1 or 2 fps , which could be stndard variation - very close to the 5870 for sure , pretty good for a £200 card.

3dmark vantage shows 1k abovew the direct competition = 14k for the 1gig 460 > 15k for the 6850 ; 16k gtx470> 17k 6870 , and both 5970 and 480 / 5830 and 450 (and lower) numbers in there

Yup i've been looking through that guru 3d for the past hour or so.

The 6850 is 9% faster than the gtx 460 1gb, only losing far cry 2.

looking at teh pics over on xtreme alot of the time theres 1 or 2 fps in it , some are more ofc , but - amazingly , none are less , the 6850 matches or is fasater than the 460

but the best thing is they both use less power - the 6850 is similar to the 460 , but the 6870 is alot less than the 470 (295 watts vs 411)


ocuk have prices up - £150 for theHIS 6850 and £199 for the HIS 6870 , £10 more for the sapphire cards which are in stock

looks like guru used the figures from july for the 470 - they didnt re test using newer drivers - apparntly they did , but nothing changed in 4 driver releases in regards to `teaks` since the number are identical? nah dont think so;
