My eyes need an upgrade for that ppi![]()
That's pretty insane, I'm interested to see this in person![]()
Overkill, but I want
However, let's start at a more realistic 720p for our <5" devices shall we![]()
So if Apple call their current display a 'retina display' due to the ppi (and general mind control buzz words), what the hell would they do with this??!!
Has amazing potential for the mobile space though - a dual core mobile with hdmi out and full 1080p movie playback (both on screen and over hdmi) would be Amazing![]()
... That gets hot in your hand, and only has a 2 hour battery life because of the GPU needed to drive the display.
A 1080p display has around 2 million pixels, which is 4 times the number on the current crop of high resolution Android or Apple smartphones, or 20x the number on my 6 month old Nokia. To drive the display with a similar level of eye candy, not to mention 3D graphics would take a desktop class GPU, and they are not cheap, small or frugal in energy usage.
In other words, it is all a nice demo, but don't expect to see the display on a regular phone for a couple of years until Mobile GPUs catch up.
