Also this is not about current state.
This is more about direction and velocity, and those FF is doing badly, getting slower and more bloated, meanwhile everyone else is going in the other direction, and the velocity at which the IE team have replaced the turd is quite impressive.

In older versions i did every now and then, after leaving my mac on for a few days, notice it slowing me down. Other than that i haven't ever noticed it really being a problem. INFACT i found chrome to eat up more ram once the comparable number of plug ins where installed.
I havent used opera for a while because the once or twice i did (it was default browser on some uni systems for some barmy reason) it drove me mad and sites just didn't work. Maybe i should give it a go again.
Very good point - it does seem as though the FF team are getting as slow as their browser
I'm an Opera user but I'm not invested in converting you (it's just a browser) but I have very few problems at all thesedays and the one thing I will say about it is that it does really shift between versions. It's worth a punt - and that's just my attitude to all things
You should, if you want to try it, use the adblocking (it's built in you just download a blocklist from: http://www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/) and autopagerize - which is simply a user script: http://d.hatena.ne.jp/os0x/searchdia...utoPagerize%5d which you place in your user scripts directory (you can configure it's location in the preferences).
Again, your choice

I need to try IE9 once it is off beta and it is official. I use all 4 browsers at the moment (IE8, Firefox, Opera and Chrome) due to different extensions I need.
But seriously, Firefox and IE8 are slow. But most sites like them the most (especially IE).
Opera is quick but it sometimes freezes on me which annoys me (especially on youtube videos). Chrome is quick too but I don't really like the lack of customizations.
I like Firefox (given it is the only open source browser) but it really needs to get its act together.
I'll agree that FF3.6 is quite slow and bloated, but FF4 is looking good, 64-bit version too! I just stick with it because a: I'm used to it now b: I've got it set up just right and c: it's not IE which I hate with a passion. Safari is just strange compared to other browsers at the moment, pushing their own features (Apple again!) but Chrome appears quite nippy, but on my 64-bit windows install sometimes just freezes. Opera is installed, but seems to just lack any zing or zap and is only really there to check out websites for compatability
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
Oh I didn't realise that. I am just into all this 64 bit thing. I always thought you should try 64 bit software on a 64 bit OS as its better than using 32 bit software in speed...
sorry off topic!...
