How long until we're all sedated before entering the airport, trollied in and woken up at our destination?

Based on the amount of contraband that gets discovered at th airport (by chance) i think it would be safe to assume alot gets through.
Can't they just get better scanners for people and inspect baggage more carefully? Surely it wouldn't take that much more man power...

Isn't that what most people do already? most people I know turn up at the airport , down a few beers and then stumble onto the plane for a sleep.
I can see us all flying naked in the next 10 years to stop the threats of the underpants bomber and other ingenious ways. I dunno, it's always the minority that spoils it for the majority isn't it.

Man hides bomb in shoe - shoes get scanned
Man hides bomb in liquid containers - no liquids allowed
Man hides bomb in pants - pants no-longer.... oh wait.
I wonder what will happen if a bomber decides to detonate a bomb in the huge queue of people waiting for the airport scanners? Will they ban queues at airports?
The problem is that our population is stupid. Generally dim.
We can't think for ourselves and it sickens me.

I don't do that, and most of the people I know don't either. We may sleep - or not - it's sometime a chance to catch up on movies missed on release). It is kinda interesting to see how we surround with people that are more similar to us though: I recall some smokers commenting how most people smoked (just before the smoking ban was implemented).
This will work for sure. I feel much better now, knowing that anyone planning to detonate a bomb on a plane using their BT/WiFi/SMS radios will be completely thwarted by the stewards telling them to turn their phones to aircraft mode. </sarcastic>
On a related note, I once spoke to a senior avionics tech, who said that GSM signals *do* potentially affect the instrument landing system of modern passenger aircraft. He (claimed he'd) tested it, watching the ILS glideslope indicator deflect when he turned his phone on close to the reciever.
Certainly mobile phone signals can affect some medical equipment - ultrasound scanners for example. My phone will cause significant disruption to the reading when connected through GPRS/EDGE (HSDPA unaffected).
Anyway, how is using timers any less dangerous than using manual detonation?
