Re: News - AMD resurrecting ATI branding?

If AMD wanted to resurrect the "ATi" moniker, then I'd suggest that they could use this for the "performance" or "enthusiast" chips. So the GPU's that are destined for adding to mobo's would be "AMD", but the high-end stuff is all ATi. Heck, even turn it into a positive brand in itself "ATi - by AMD".

    Just a thought.

ATi over AMD any day for a brand, its iconic for the Radeon series. They are like a fine wine and strong stilton, i.e. match made in heaven!

I guess they want to boost the AMD brand using ATI name and not the other way around.
The most likely chance is to use AMD for performance/enthusiast GPU and let ATI for regular/integrated units.
    Anyway, time will tell.

Not my impression. From an enthusiast perspective, both AMD and ATi have had their hits and flops vis-a-vis to their chief competitor (and personally, I only care about the product). I do not find the Radeon more iconic than the Athlon. From a non-enthusiast perspective, Intel stomps AMD, and most don't care about ATi OR nVidia. Though if you were to push for an answer, "The way it's meant to be played" is more memorable than whatever ATi used as a slogan.
