Re: News - Amazon's Black Friday 'lightning deals' strike fury into customers

I can't seem to get anything. My clicking finger isn't fast enough. Most of the deals on there are not what I was expecting. £10 off this and £5 off that. Play.com is listing some of the games that amazon is selling on offer for cheaper with free postage. So some offers are a bit of a con. But hey, it is all a publicity stunt to get people on amazon, these are still tough times for retail and amazon is trying something different in the UK. Fair play for being a little different but quantities of stock are just running out too quickly. Within seconds the stock is gone and the offer has ended, You'll be lucky if you even notice the offer has started never mind trying to bag a bargain.

I was very annoyed to miss out on the Photoshop elements, having foolishly hesitated before clicking on the buy button. Honestly could not have been more than a second though.

However I did manage to get the (much less exciting) Scrabble Trickster deal. It is possible, but you have to be both quick and lucky!

To me the worse bit is 90% of items sold will soon be on ebay.

I can't even seem to find the lighting deals web page.

Anyone want to give me hand please?

It does seem a bit stupid with people complaining. What are the expecting?
You've probably got millions of people on the website at the same time. Of course the deals are going to go quickly.

Bloody Hell. They had a Wii for £50 before i could even move the mouse to add to basket they were sold out! Literally seconds.. That's either insane or seriously dodgy.

Re: News - Amazon's Black Friday 'lightning deals' strike fury into customers

They do go within seconds. I clicked one (within about 2 seconds) to be told "Waiting in Queue..." 10 minutes later nothing, so I refreshed the page to be told it was sold out.

Another more serious issue is the fact that the TV they were selling (37" HDTV) DID NOT say whether it was FULL HD in the listing on the Black Friday page, so to confirm you need to go and read about it, and by that time it's gone.

The Canon Powershot on special offer didn't even say WHAT MODEL IT WAS!! So for all you knew you could be buying last years model, or something completely different (although you did have a picture to go off)... and then again by the time you actually know what you're buying, everybody else has already bought it "blindly".

Re: News - Amazon's Black Friday 'lightning deals' strike fury into customers

In case anyone's interested and hasn't checked yet today, they appear to be re-listing some of the items from yesterday at random intervals through the day (i.e. not on the hour like the main deals).

Presumably this relates to stock not purchased yesterday when people just clicked the button as quickly as they could but then didn't complete the order for whatever reason. Not as elegant a solution as using a proper waiting list but at least they are actually trying to get rid of all the stock at the offer price. Should win them back a few brownie points at least

I think the worst part of it all is that you dont actually have to buy it.

Seems a lot of people are just adding it to their baskets, which is sufficient to get the discounted price, selling it elsewhere, then paying for it before the midnight deadline.

Admittedly, its capitalism at its greatest, but I can understand why people are annoyed.
