I guess someone was unhappy with Muglia about having to clean up the Silverlight strategy mess after his statements at PDC in October!
2011?in a statement posted to the 10 downing street website, the government has announced that microsoft will be creating an additional 4,000 jobs in the uk in 2010
BullDogg (12-01-2011)
well they didn't need special unique tax cuts did they? EA you listening?
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
maybe its a trade off?
one exec + bonuses = 4000 entry level techs?
they invented a time machine aswell?in a statement posted to the 10 downing street website, the government has announced that microsoft will be creating an additional 4,000 jobs in the uk in 2010
Don't you mean Activision?
Does this mean Job Centre Plus will actually suggest a job to me where I can use my Computer Science degree rather then a forklift?
I really need a job... C# programmer mainly if anyone has suggestions as to if this would help actually getting a job.
Good news..but I wonder how many of these will be actual development jobs. Most of the interesting dev work at MS still only goes on in the USA
@Acute - depends where you live, but if near any big city then start trawling the job sites and posting your CV with agencies, there are LOADS of C# .net developer jobs out there, especially if you know ASP.NET.
Nah, that's because MS probably get enough public money - remember all those many, many thousands of Windows and Office licenses. (And it was Activision, not EA).
Aye, that'll be right. And I bet they've got money to spare now ... I don't think the 4,000 MS jobs will be that useful for the tech community - figuring that the majority will be Sales-related not technical/dev-type stuff, or based inside the M25 ghetto. I'm also deeply suspicious that this announcement has come from Cameron's office, rather than from MS directly - are there some deals being done on the quiet?
TheITJobBoard (.co.uk) claims to have 1,390 C# related jobs at the moment (I just checked). Okay, maybe most of them are bogus, but surely there's one there to suit. Heck, you've got a lot more chance than I would have (skillset: Linux and IBM AIX, no degree and in Scotland). I just had a quick look at hp.co.uk and they're also showing a couple of vacancies - so there's definitely stuff out there. Maybe JC+ is being lazy...?
Anyway, I wish you good luck with your job hunting. Fingers crossed
